Lynne McD Does San Carlos

We were so excited that our friend, Lynne McDougal, was coming to visit us!  She is a realtor and won a trip anywhere in the states (they made an exception for Mexico) AND she chose to spend her trip coming to visit us.  She is one of our favorite people!!

We headed right down to the Malecon,
after picking her up at the airport in
Hermosillo, to make reservations
for our cruise later in the week.
We relaxed a bit and got her settled and then headed down the street to Delfine's where Lorena Robles and Leslie Sahlen were singing together to celebrate Leslie's birthday. Poor Lynne was a tired puppy, so we went home fairly early to rest up for Saturday's events.

Saturday's events started with the shrimp festival, which we never attended before.  You buy tickets for 35 pesos (about $2) and then can use them to buy delicious shrimp noshes from various restaurants in San Carlos and Guaymas.  It was fun discovering some new shrimp dishes and catching up with some old friends.

Yum margaritas-I think she is enjoying
herself.

And Lorena was playing again today!

In between the shrimp festival and the next event, we visited
Giggles at The Bar Down in Mexico-definitely a "must
experience" kind of place-and she is a real character.
Can you believe that Giggles is 80!!!?!
To give you an idea of what this place is like, check out one of the decorations:

They actually jiggle!

The next event was Assterisko and Susan King's Steel Pan Band at the new La Playa hotel.  We loved the music and the venue!  Apparently, there is a long history to this location-something about two sisters who were not especially appreciated around here.  We thought it was wonderful!

Lynne dogsat while we danced.

A wonderful table right at the beach

Bill and Cheryl, our Alberta friends, saved a table for us.

Winnie Rock and Lynne enjoyed a dance with Winnie's dog
while Boo and I danced behind them.
We were pretty tired after a long day and hit the sac early because we knew we had another full day the next day!

It was Lynne's birthday celebration
on Sunday

and our 46th wedding anniversary.
We had brunch on the deck - mandarina
margaritas (mandarins from Selena's tree),
Mexican eggs, Santa Rosa bacon and platas
de fruitas!
We had a slight lie down and then headed out to the Algodones Beach area for more fun and frivolity.  First we hit the Soggy Peso for margaritas and watched the kite boarders.

Check out that look on Boo's face.  I don't think he's been in
a hammock before.  I think he liked it!

Doesn't this look like fun?  I think I'm too old to be this brave.

Beautiful sight in this light

My goodness-my hair is adobe red!
Thankfully, I've had my hair colored back to an ash brown.
since then.  A little chilly tonight, but comfortable.

46 years-oh, my goodness!!!  We are so lucky to have each other!

The Sunset grill and the sunset

Yummy dinner

This guy was outside the Sunset Grill, entertaining us
by juggling fire sticks.
So, back home and some fire gazing of our own around the firepit on the deck.  The next morning we had a brunch buffet at the Embarcadero on the Malecon.

A beautiful morning and a fabulous brunch

My buddies

We learned that these beautiful people were part of a TV Novella
-very entertaining!

And we are a little Novella of our own!
WE HAD TO GET SOME EXERCISE!  So, off we went through the Bahia, past the guard shack and onto the path to one of our favorite little spots that we always have had to ourselves:  Tomate Beach.

And yes-we had it to ourselves.

That evening we planned a sunset cruise on the Hattie Annie with Steve and Araceli, such lovely hosts!  Margene and Joe and Cindy joined us, along with a few other people along for the ride.

Margene was sporting her Christmas beret.

And, I-my beloved raven hat from the Grand
Staircase:  not very Christmasy, however!

Beautiful Lynne

The whole ball game-beautiful lady,
beautiful sunset, beautiful view!

St. Nicolas or Christmas Island-Guess why?

A couple from BC who were taking a several month vacation-
mostly in Asia, but were wishing they had planned more time here.

How cute is this cutie wootie?!!!

She looks so at home with Boo!

There is nothing like being out on a boat at sunset with birds

And birds

And more birds
 AND.............

Dolphins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And more dolphins!

 AND.....

A very appreciative audience!

We walked over to Hammerheads at the marina for supper and then headed home.  We are always tired, it seems.  The time is going much too quickly-so many things we haven't had a chance to do yet.  There are more bands to hear, more restaurants to experience, more fun relaxing things to do on the deck and time at the beach.  Some will have to wait for next time.

Tacos, a visit with JJ and dancing to Manuelito and the Warriors was a must!

Lynne's last day-we finally made it to the beach-one of our favorite things to do!

And La Palapa Griega is the little beach bar at our beach, a short walk from our house.  And Mark
Mulligan plays on Wednesday.  So, that was the choice for our last night.  Some great coconut shrimp, some OK fish picatta, a good Greek salad and some tequila shots set us up for a little dancing and a little sadness for her last night here.

We sure enjoyed having you here, Lynne!
